ABOUT ME

~ kyleigh PITCHER

I’m a freelance photographer based in Sydney specialising in low light live music photography, tour photography, festivals and band portraits.

My love of music began when I followed my elder brother around at a very young age asking him to play the “Baision” for me (my very own word for record player). I received my first camera at age 8 and started photographing bands when I was a teenager sneaking into gigs. Old school Black and White photography had a huge impact on me, but these days I lean towards whatever I think suits the image best. Being able to combine my greatest loves of music and photography has long been my dream.

I have worked in the printing arena as a Commercial Photographic Printer. I specialised in Colour Printing and focused mainly on Large Format Mural Printing, this equipped me with an understanding of colours and framing a shot. My other assignments also included bulk Proofing, Automatic Printing and Hand Printing images.

When shooting an artist or a band my intentions are always to capture something unique to that artist/s, revealing emotion, energy or the vibe of the performance. I never walk into a gig unprepared, I will always have an idea of what I want to achieve in a shoot and then roll with the performance at hand.

My images appear online at the AU review an Independent Online Music Publication, Junior Online Music & Entertainment and Tone Deaf amongst others.

I am not limited to live music photography and am available to also shoot on location ~ portraits, candids, documentary or events utilising natural light and landscapes.

I am based in Sydney, Australia, or for the right assignment I am very happy to travel.
